The National Board of Examinations is an autonomous organization functioning under the Ministry of Health & Family Welfare, Govt. of India. The prime objective of the Board is to conduct post-graduate examinations of high and uniform standard through out the country in 42 specialties and super specialties. These examinations and degrees are equivalent to MS and MD in various specialties.
Accreditation to conduct the course is granted to Hospitals / Institutions after very stringent inspection. Only hospitals with excellent infrastructure, faculty and clinical track record are given permission to conduct this course.
Candidates who hold an MBBS degree from a recognized University should also pass the National level Entrance examination to join for this post graduate course. This three-year course will provide training in all major subspecialties in Ophthalmology and also adequate exposure in Ophthalmic Microsurgery. Candidates holding a Diploma in Ophthalmology can also join the course to obtain a Postgraduate degree in Ophthalmology.
